Lightweight, water-resistant cotton is not something you see everyday, and this technical version, from one of the leading waxed cotton mills in Scotland, has become a perennial material at NOAH. Fortifying natural fabrics against wind and rain has been an obsession of fishermen since the 1500’s, when they greased their linen sails with fish oil and made capes out of the fabric scraps. Thankfully, modern technology has buttressed centuries of trial and error to produce this densely-woven but ultralight fabric. It repels water like treated synthetics, but offers the clean matte surface, breathability and softness of fine cotton.
