Over the last weekend the NY Times wrote a story about how Patagonia was suing the president. We've attached the article here so you can read it in full, but the gist of it is this: the President and his administration has been slowly dismantling the protections of our natural resources. Patagonia is suing him for essentially reversing President Obama's creation of Bears Ears National Monument, which could potentially open the surrounding lands up to gas and oil research and drilling, and basically destroying it. Once again, Patagonia has shown us how we can all use our resources to fight the ridiculous choices our leaders make in the name of their own desire to attain more wealth and power. That the people behind the lawsuit have managed to rally around this when their own homes and workplace were being threatened by natural disasters, made worse by climate change, speaks volumes to how much of their heart is in this fight.
We’d like to thank Patagonia for continuing to lead the way, and for creating a blueprint for other businesses to follow. We wouldn't be here without them. For the remainder of the month, Noah will donate 10% of all sales to 1% for the planet, the organization that Patagonia helped create, the sole purpose of which is to support grassroots organizations fighting to protect our wild spaces.
Please take a few minutes to read about what Patagonia is doing, it gives a full picture of the events and how they've responded. If you'd like to learn more or donate to 1% for the Planet directly, you can do so here.
