Fall ‘21 Cannonball Run
Cannonball Runs are all about distilling our favorite parts about racing and stripping away the things we felt were unnecessary. The best part about getting together for a race is the community aspect of bringing like minded athletes together to have fun and compete.
The beauty of establishing races with that goal in mind is that you don't need corporate sponsors, bib numbers or chip times to achieve that. Even better is when you do without the typical infrastructure of a road race in the city, it turns out you can do it for pretty cheap. With the money you don't spend on the typical needs of a structured race you end up with a budget to help support a cause your community cares about. That's why every time we host a cannonball run the winner of the race has their choice of where the money goes to. This year that money went to Inspiring Independence, a Florida based charity selected by our winner, David Kilgore.
Running is special because it doesn't discriminate. It doesn't matter what shoes you have, where you live or what your social standing is. When the gun goes off, everyone is an equal and that always makes for a special group of people on race start lines.
