We've always been drawn to the aesthetics of older sneaker silhouettes, and this collaboration began with our love for Adidas' SL72, a heritage shoe designed for marathoners. In addition to our take on this classic, we've also done a version of the SL20, which incorporates Adidas' latest, ultralight technology for contemporary runners.
We're especially thankful for the opportunity to incorporate Primeblue into both shoes. Primeblue is a high-performance mesh made with Parley Ocean Plastic™, which is derived from recycled bottles intercepted from beaches around the world. Thanks to the hard work Adidas has put into developing this material, we were offered the unique opportunity to have our designs be part of the solution to ocean plastic pollution.
We expanded the collection to apparel that utilizes other recycled materials, and included a signature seashell graphic to further illustrate the connection to ocean awareness. It's a symbol close to our roots, since shellfishing of all types played such an important role in the economy and culture of Long Island, where we grew up.
